Get Target Joint Velocities

SUMMARY

Get Target Joint Velocities returns the joint-velocity setpoint the controller is currently commanding (deg/s, base to wrist).

Reads from the manipulator state - live controller setpoint when connected, zero-filled offline.

UNITS

Returns target joint velocities in deg/s, ordered base to wrist.

The Skill

python
qd_target = robot.get_target_joint_velocities()

The Code

python
"""
Logs the controller-commanded target joint velocities.

Supports Universal Robots (UR), Epson, virtual, and Isaac Sim.

Usage:
    python get_target_joint_velocities.py [--ip <ROBOT_IP>] [--prim_path <PRIM_PATH>]
"""

import argparse

from loguru import logger

from telekinesis.synapse.robots.manipulators import universal_robots

def main(ip: str | None, prim_path: str | None) -> None:

    try:

Running the Example

bash
python get_target_joint_velocities.py
bash
python get_target_joint_velocities.py --prim_path /World/ur10e
bash
python get_target_joint_velocities.py --ip 192.168.1.100

For all options:

bash
python get_target_joint_velocities.py --help

Parameter Configuration

This skill takes no input parameters.

Returns

TypeDescription
list[float]Controller-commanded joint velocities in deg/s, one value per joint, ordered base to wrist. Zero-filled offline.

Where to Use the Skill

  • Velocity tracking analysis - Compare against measured velocities from Get Joint Velocities.
  • Feedforward control design - Read the commanded velocity profile during motion for controller tuning.
